Causes
There are many possible causes of orthostatic hypotension, including prolonged bed rest, pregnancy, dehydration, diabetes, heart problems, excessive heat, burns, large varicose veins, and some brain disorders. Several medications, including antidepressants, and drugs used to treat Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure, and erectile dysfunction may lead to orthostatic hypotension. Examples of these medications include beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, and diuretics.
